Cleopatra and the Pharaohs

Cleopatra VII was the last active Pharaoh of Egypt, a member of the Macedonian Greek Ptolemaic Dynasty founded by Ptolemy I Soter after Alexander the Great's death in 323 BC. Her reign (51 - 30 BC) was marked by her unique ability to learn the Egyptian language and her political/romantic alliances with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. The Ptolemaic dynasty lasted nearly three centuries (305 BC to 30 BC) and saw the flourishing of Alexandria as a center of Greek culture.
